How effective is your endpoint security solution?

Many companies have drastically increased the size of their remote workforce within the past year.  The increasing size of the remote work force translates to an increase in the number of endpoint devices.  The cyber-attack success rate is also on the rise, and many of these attacks begin with endpoint devices.  IT leaders are justified in asking whether or not their endpoint protection is strong enough to keep their companies safe.  

Modern Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions provide detection and prevention of threats, analysis and forensics of the endpoints, and effective response capability to contain and remediate located threats. 

Here is a list of things to ask when reviewing your endpoint security solution:

• Does your current solution provide EDR capabilities? (Hint: It should)
• Are you leveraging all the EDR solutions functionality?
• Are the solutions rule-sets and policies tuned to support your environment? 
• Do you have the skilled resources to manage the complexity of the EDR solution?
• Do you have around the clock investigation of potential threats being logged?
• How effective is the solution in detecting unknown threats?
• How easy is it to analyze and remediate threats with the EDR solution?
• How powerful are the global search and query capabilities? 
• Does the solution provide actionable intelligence to assist in identifying potential malicious threats?
• What is the performance impact of the EDR solution on the endpoint?
• Does the EDR solution provide support for mobile devices?
• Is the EDR solution a point product or part of a well-defined security ecosystem?
